前回のコロンバス・クルーSC戦から5人の先発メンバーを変えて臨んだロサンゼルスFC戦。今回もダビド・ビジャ、アンドレス・イニエスタ、ルーカス・ポドルスキが揃って先発を飾り、前線を彩ります。

試合前からロサンゼルスの熱狂的なファンが熱をもたらし、スタジアムを盛り上げる中、最初にビッグチャンスを掴んだのはロサンゼルス FCでした。ゴール前で縦パスを通されAdama Diomandeに至近距離からゴールを放たれましたが、ここはGK前川黛也が体を張って好セーブを見せます。ですが、その後も再三にわたって、ロサンゼルスにカウンターから、あるいはボールを繋がれてゴール前に詰め寄られるシーンが続きます。

ヴィッセル神戸がペースを掴み始めたのは20分を過ぎた頃から。高い位置でボールを奪い、両サイドを活かした幅のある攻撃で再三にわたって相手陣内の深いところまで切り込みます。中でも目を惹く動きを見せていたのがビジャ選手。縦パスに反応し、かつ相手を一瞬にしてドリブルで抜き去って前へと、味方からのパスに素早い反応をみせながらゴールに迫り、スタンドからはどよめきが起きます。

ですが、そうしたチャンスをゴールに結び付けられないでいると、逆にやや停滞が感じられたロサンゼルスFCが一瞬にして前への圧力を強め、最後はペナルティ内で縦パスを受けたメキシコ代表のカルロス・ベラに左足でゴール左上を捉えられて先制を許します。これを機に再びロサンゼルスが息を吹き返し43分には、再び相手のカルロス・ベラに2得点目を許し、前半を0-2で折り返します。

33分で交代した2選手に加え、6選手を入れ替えて臨んだ後半も、ヴィッセルは中盤から守備ラインの連携にスムーズさを欠き、押し込まれる展開に。それでも57分にはMF郷家友太の右サイドからの絶妙なクロスボールにビジャが頭であわせて見せ場を作りますが、シュートはわずかにバーの上へ。更に5人を入れ替えて臨んだ60分以降の戦いでも、ゴールを決めたかと思われた FW小川慶治朗のシュートがオフサイドの判定になるなど1点が遠くーー。終わってみれば-4-1と大量得点を許し、戦いを終えました。

それでも81分には、新加入のDF初瀬亮選手が、今季のヴィッセル神戸の初ゴールでもある移籍後初ゴールをFKで決めるといった好材料も。試合後、初瀬選手は「得意な位置だったので絶対に蹴りたかった。少し球速は遅かったですが決められて良かったです。まだまだ課題はありますが個人的には結果でのアピールが大事な時期なので続けていきたい」と語り、次なる戦いへの意欲を示しました。

Fives changes were made to the lineup that faced Columbus Crew SC just days ago. Leading the attack once more were the trio of David Villa, Lukas Podolski, and Andres Iniesta. The home fans made sure to set the stage for an exciting atmosphere as LAFC got the first real opportunity of the match through Adama Diomande, but his attempt was well saved by Vissel goalkeeper Daiya Maekawa.

Vissel worked the ball up the sides and tried to find David Villa in the center, who troubled his opponents with his nifty movement. However, it was the home side that struck first. LAFC captain Carlos Vela picked up the ball at the edge of the penalty box and curled one in to the far corner (33’). Just about ten minutes later it was Vela once again, who this time skipped past Hirotaka Mita and curled a low shot with his left foot around the helpless Maekawa in goal (44’). As a result, Vissel were down two goals at the half.

While two players were changed at the 33rd minute mark, a further six changes were made to start the second half. A good chance fell to Villa in the 57th minute, but his headed attempt went over the opponent goal. Then in the 60th minute it appeared as if Vissel had narrowed the lead, but Keijiro Ogawa’s goal was called back for offside. Before you knew it, the match ended with a 4-1 victory for the hosts in LA.

The lone bright spot for Vissel came in the 81st minute when winter signing Ryo Hatsuse curled in a beautiful free kick with his left foot. “It was a position I liked, so I definitely wanted to take it. I did not have too much speed on the ball, but I am happy it went in. We still face many challenges, but I want to continue to work hard to show my worth to the team,” said Hatsuse after the match.
