今日はUSAツアー初の練習公開日。練習前からファンの方が練習場に周りにずらり。バルセロナやスペイン代表のユニフォームに混じってヴィッセル神戸のユニフォームを着ている人もいました。皆、練習前からテンションは高め。ポドルスキ選手の入場時にはコールが起こるなど、イニエスタ選手、ポドルスキ選手、ビジャ選手への声援は別格でした。

報道陣も、日本やアメリカ、韓国のメディアなどバラエティに富んでおり、日本語、スペイン語、英語が飛び交う現場でした。

練習は、昨日に引続きフィジカルメニューや基本トレーニングを中心に行われました。最後は、ゲーム形式のトレーニングを実施。ポドルスキ選手のパスに反応したイニエスタ選手がゴールを決めた時には、大きな歓声が沸きあがりました。

今日はプレイヤーとして元ドイツ代表、またアメリカ代表の監督を務めていたクリンスマンさんが練習に訪れ、フアンマ監督と話し込んでいました。ポドルスキ選手や咲花コーチが一緒に仕事をしており、3人揃って話す際は、メディアがずらりと囲む場面もありました。

練習後には、フアンマ監督から「トレーニングも重要だが、休むことも重要、これから長いシーズンに向けて皆がフレッシュな状態でいることが大切」と話があり、今後は、食事後など2時間は部屋で休む時間が設けられました。オンザピッチだけでなく、オフザピッチの行動も結果に繋がってくるということを再認識した一日でした。

明日は、コロンバスFCとの試合の前日練習になります。それではまた。

The third day marked the first day with an official open training session free to the public. Fans lined up from the parking lot to the field, wearing a mixture of Spain, FC Barcelona, and Vissel Kobe jerseys to greet their favorite players. Lukas Podolski received a welcoming chant as he appeared, while David Villa and Andres Iniesta also received noticeably positive reactions.

Media members included those from Japan, Korea, and the United States, so there were a lot of languages being spoken in and around the field.

The training session consisted of primarily working on physical aspects, followed by a small-sided game type of drill. The fans erupted at one scene when Iniesta scored from a Podolski pass.

Also in attendance was Jurgen Klinsmann, who was a player for Germany and also went on to coach the German national team as well as the US national team. Klinsmann was seen conversing with Vissel Kobe head coach Juan Manuel Lillo as well as his former pupil Podolski, to which the media clearly took a notice.

Following training, coach Lillo said: “It is important to train, but it is also important to rest. We are about to enter a long season and we want everyone to be fresh.” Thus, players were granted a 2-hour rest period after sharing a meal. Knowing when to train and when to rest will surely be an important aspect of achieving success this season.

Tomorrow will see the first friendly match of the USA tour as Vissel get set to face Columbus Crew of the MLS.
