Ｊリーグ史上初のアメリカでのプレシーズンツアー。24日の13時に日本を飛び立ち、約10時間のフライトを経て、アメリカのロサンゼルス国際空港に降り立ちました。チャーター便だったため、普段味わえない対応に選手も感激しきり。

三原選手は、「空港から飛行機に乗るまで人生最速でした。すごいです」と言って、機内に乗り込んでいきました。機内も全てビジネスクラスと、豪華な仕様に、選手もスタッフも記念に写真を沢山とり、SNSに投稿する選手も多くいて盛り上がっていました。まだ高校生の小林選手、伊藤選手は、「夢のようです」となかなか現実を受け入れられない様子。長時間移動も、負担ではなく、楽しみの一部になるUSAツアーの幕開けでした。

初日の練習は、15時半から実施し、軽めのトレーニングとなりました。気温は20度を超え、選手も温かい気候と開放感のある練習場で終始和やかな雰囲気。ボール回しでは、ポドルスキ選手、ビジャ選手、イニエスタ選手が一緒の組になり、ワンタッチでのパス回しは、見ていて飽きない時間でした。

練習後は、イニエスタ選手、西選手、スペイン人スタッフが話しこむ場面も。鹿島アントラーズのことや、イニエスタ選手のバルセロナ時代のことを話していたそうです。イニエスタ選手は、今年から加入した選手に積極的に声を掛けるなど、チームに溶け込むための後押しをしています。

USAツアーの初日は、選手、スタッフの距離が近づいた1日でした。明日からは、試合に向けてのトレーニング、良い雰囲気ながらも、厳しさのある練習になっていきそうです。

Preseason in the United States is a first of its kind for a J.League club. The Vissel Kobe team departed at 13:00 on the 24th of January and arrived at Los Angeles’ LAX airport roughly 10 hours later. Flying on a charter plane was a new experience for many members of the squad, who were visibly impressed by the arrangements.

“It is the fastest I have ever gone through the airport to the plane. It is impressive,” said midfielder Masatoshi Mihara as he boarded the plane. With an airplane full of business class seating, both players and staff seemed to be in a joyous mood as they took turns taking pictures to post on their respective social media channels. The high school student duo of Genta Ito and Yuki Kobayashi could only describe it as a “dream” as the charter set forth for the United States.

The first day of training began around 15:30 with temperatures hovering above 20 degrees Celsius. The players seemed to be in a relaxed mood as a light session began. Noticeable were the trio of Lukas Podolski, Andres Iniesta, and new signing David Villa, who passed the ball around with ease in one of the exercises.

After training, several staff members as well as Iniesta and new signing Daigo Nishi were seen discussing their past experiences at FC Barcelona and the Kashima Antlers, respectively. Iniesta, for his part, seems to be taking on an active role this season to help get the new players acclimated to the team.

The first day of the #VISSELUSATOUR wrapped up to be a day in which players and staff got acquainted with one another. Tomorrow will mark the start of the grind as the team prepares for the several friendly matches that have been scheduled in the coming weeks.
