Shonan Bellmare 0-3 Vissel Kobe [YBC Levain Cup]
A completely changed Vissel Kobe ran out easy 3-0 winners away at Shonan Bellmare in this Levain Cup group stage match. Daiki Miya made his debut at centre back, while Keijiro Ogawa filled the right back spot. Takuya Yasui also debuted, while Daiju Sasaki got his first start after a little substitute time against Sagan Tosu in the previous round. This team of 1st XI challengers took the game to their hosts and won with ease.
It was Wellington who had the first chance, after a great right wing run from Sasaki saw the ball pulled back but the burly Brazilian saw his shot go straight at the goalkeeper. Sasaki's first professional goal opened the scoring as he managed to force home a close range ball after Wellington had seen his header saved, with the ball bouncing off the post and across the goal for the debutant to squeeze it home at the other post. 23 minutes in, a deserved lead.
Wellington finally got his goal on the half hour mark, out-muscling an opponent on the left wing and advancing before curling a superb right foot shot into the far corner. 2-0 at the break. Vissel's alternative XI was cruising, and giving manager Takayuki Yoshida a pleasant selection headache, perhaps!
The away team sealed the points on a penalty kick after Daiki Sugioka had fouled Miya with what seemed to be an elbow to the face as a corner swung over. There were no complaints from the defender as he received his second yellow card with minutes to go and Kazuma Watanabe put the penalty home with aplomb to seal a comfortable 3-0 win and take his team to the top of group D in this Levain Cup campaign.
